I’m celebrating the time to finally share highlights from my Class of 2018 senior sessions – Last year was one of the busiest and most productive years of my life, and I had the chance to work with so many incredible students. I’ve worked with Matt’s family since his older sister was one of my Class of 2015 models, and this year a model rep, we had a chance to work together a few times, including on our Dutch Bros. shoot. When it was time for his session, he just knew he wanted an urban, colorful experience. I’d say we hit every mark – and that hair of his made the whole thing really pop. Matt, I’m SO glad you’ve been part of my crew this year … I adore you and your whole family!
As the countdown towards graduation begins, I can’t help but reflect on so many of the fantastic sessions I shot for the Class of 2017 – so many of which I’ve not had the chance to show off!
I adored so much about Kirsten’s session! First of all, she’s such a talented and amazing young woman who is now headed to California College of the Arts to earn her BFA in Animation … Second, she wanted to shoot downtown, including at a coffee shop – which just makes me ridiculously happy. And third- I abso-freaking-loutley loved her hair. Could she BE more fierce?
I am so excited for all the incredible sessions already scheduled for the Class of 2018, but I am so grateful to the amazing students who invited me to be a part of their senior experience this past year. Don’t let the senioritis get to you too much, gang! Graduation will be here soon! XOXO
It’s #SeniorSunday, and I just had to pull another beautiful session from my archives to share, since I was so remiss at sharing these during the heat of the #Classof2017 season. Eilise’s photos – which we shot downtown and at the International Rose Gardens, resulted in just so much magical light and beauty – so much so that one of her photos is in the front running for being the cover of my new Keepsakes Guide. So if you have a favorite from her session, please leave a comment and let me know which one you think should grace the cover of my biggest magazine that I distribute each year.
Class of 2018 – I’m already booking into June and July, so NOW is the time to contact me to get on the calendar. I am SO excited for the sun to come out and to start working with all of my beautiful models!
Last spring, I made one of the scariest and smartest decisions in my photo biz history, and I feel like it’s time the rest of the world can find out just how smart I was!
As a business owner, one of the biggest leaps one can make is to bring on an employee. I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough work (or let’s be real – enough income!) to support someone, but I knew I needed some help. Fortunately as fate would have it, Manasa found me. This former Oregon State photo student sent me an email asking if I was in the market for an intern. I had her in for an interview, and that was that. I instantly knew she would be SUCH a great asset to my company; her attitude, her hysterical humor, and her directness all were just what I thought I needed.
I was so right.
I have had the BEST time working with this amazing woman, and am so thrilled to have her on my team. She’s really my right-hand here, helping with everything from lighting on sessions, to client communications; she submits all of our senior photos to schools; she helps organize and streamline my big on-site corporate sessions (sometime with 40 or more headshot sessions all in a day!), and she is always happy to run any stupid errand that I need. (This week: “Could you find me some wooden planks and some blanket backgrounds for the product shoot we’re doing?”)
The next time I see you at a session, make sure to get to know Manasa (pronounced like “Monica”). I’m sure you’ll adore her as much as I do!
My Class of 2017 models still have another half year of school ahead of them (sorry gang!), but believe it or not it’s already time for the Class of 2018 to start thinking about all those amazing milestones awaiting them during their senior year. And that includes senior photos!
I’m THRILLED to announce that I’m opening up applications for my Class of 2018, and actually started working with some of these amazing students today! So that gives me a fantastic excuse to introduce Maya – my first (non family!) model for next year! If you see Maya rocking her darling jeans and tank top look, please know that it was all of about 39 degrees out when we took these pics. But she made it look not only easy, but even a little comfortable outside! I just loved every moment of working with her and cannot WAIT for all the fun events and sessions we’ll be sharing together this next coming year.
Class of 2018: if you’re interested in being a Kelly Mooney Photography model, or you’d like to consider booking your senior session for this spring or summer, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP. I’m already booking for July and August, and the dates are going to fill up fast.
And Maya – you were a rock star today. THANK YOU for spending part of your holiday break with me!
