Alexis is sitting in my office, and she’s working on an assignment in which she has to draw a picture of a room in our house, following the style of Vincent van Gogh’s “Bedroom in Arles” painting. It’s an intense project that requires a geometrical approach to art, and forces objects to be drawn from a single perspective. As she is sitting here, she’s starting to get angry because the angles and perspective are challenging, so she’s occasionally voicing frustration, and even threw in a “grrrr” for good measure.
Being the “rational” mom (yea, right), I said, “Lex, I don’t think Vincent van Gogh acted like this when he was painting.
“No mom, you’re right … He shot himself!”
It took me 15 minutes to stop laughing!
